Color Schemes

We have been fielding a lot of questions about different ways to color concrete using our Z Aqua-Tint. On this page we will be posting samples that we have made along with detailed instructions on how to recreate these color schemes. Check back, this page will be updated frequently as we create more sample for you.

This sample was created using our Thin Insert Slate Form Liners and stamped with our Slate Texture Mat to make the concrete appear like slate. To color it, a base coat of "Amber" Z Aqua-Tint was rolled on to evenly coat the entire piece. Next, "Ebony" and "Sienna" were applied with a sea sponge. When the stain was dry to the touch, the entire piece was rinsed with a sponge and clear water to slightly blend the colors together. Finally, Z SiAcryl 14 was rolled on to seal the piece without altering the colors.

This sample was created using our Thin Insert Stone Form Liners and stamped with our Stone Texture Mat to make the concrete appear like chiseled stone. Once the concrete was poured, but while it was still wet, "Ebony" was lightly srayed onto the entire surface before stamping the concrete with the texture mat. Once dry, the top was sanded with 60, 80, 120, and 220 grit Z Grit-Discs to remove most of the back color from the high spots. After the forms were removed, "Ebony was lightly sponged onto the edges. Next, the entire piece was sprayed with "Mojave". Once the concrete was cured, the piece was sealed with Z Poxy. The Z Poxy coating greatly darkens the colors and adds a high gloss finish.
