So you're taking the plunge and building your own concrete countertop? Thats great news. We think that with the Z-Counterform Concrete Countertop System, you're going to find the whole process incredibly simple. But, before you dive in headfirst, let's make sure that you have everything you need to build the concrete countertop of your dreams.

Tools for Building a Concrete Countertop

What you need is going to depend largely on what you already have, but here are the essentials:

  • Screed: You'll use this to evenly distribute the concrete once its been poured. We have screeds in different sizes for different uses.
  • Mixer: If you don't have something to mix the concrete, then grab a high-quality concrete mixer from our online store!
  • Floats and Trowels: You'll be using these to make sure everything's nice and smooth as the concrete countertop cures.

Countertop Forms

You wont get anywhere without these! The countertop form goes around the edge of the counter in order to hold the concrete in. We sell these in a variety of different shapes so that you can get a completely custom edge for your countertops.

Concrete

Seems rather obvious, doesn't it? But, it's important to remember that not just any old concrete will do. For this reason, we suggest that you opt for our Z Liqui-Crete System. Z Liqui-Crete is an extremely high quality admixture, designed to be added to a 60lb concrete sand mix. When used with our fiberglass mesh and Z Clips, reinforcing your countertop is a breeze! The Z Liqui-Crete System will ensure that your concrete countertop comes out just the way you want it to!

Polishing Pads (Optional)

Proper finishing techniques with a magnesium float and steel trowel will give you a nice smooth finish, but some people prefer the look of polished concrete. Once the concrete has cured, you can use a wet polisher and diamond polishing pads to expose the aggregate in your concrete countertop and achieve this look.

Sealers, Polish and Stains

Depending upon what kind of look you're going for with your concrete countertop, you have a few options here. We have a wide assortment of topical stains and integral colors so that you can give your countertop whatever color you want to. In addition, we have a variety of different polishes and sealers that are perfect for just about any need. So, take a look at the store, and find the ones that are right for you!
